ZACHARY TAYLOR, the 12th President of the US, stayed at Bentsen Palm Development
while commanding US forces in the Brownsville Area during the late
1830’s and early 1840’s. President Taylor died in office on July 9, 1850 after eating
cherries and milk at a July 4th Celebration in Washington.
